CTO NEWS AND UPDATES

We’ve hit 100 sites on CTO Stream

More than 100 clinical trial sites are using CTO Stream, an Ontario-built system that’s improving efficiency by harmonizing the research ethics review process. Sites registered with CTO Stream can join approved province-wide studies in a few weeks or less, helping industry and research organizations move forward with studies faster and with fewer resources. Since launching in 2015, CTO Stream has become essential to Ontario’s clinical trials ecosystem, with more than 700 active trials and more than 65 industry sponsors using the system. As we celebrate this milestone, CTO thanks the many volunteers from the clinical trials community who helped build CTO Stream.

QuickSTART your next clinical trial

Harmonizing the research ethics review process is just the first step to more efficient clinical trials. QuickSTART, CTO’s newest streamlining program, is designed to help clinical trials sites and industry sponsors reduce their overall start-up time by establishing harmonized processes for budget and contract negotiation. The QuickSTART pilot is beginning this fall. Contact info@ctontario.ca to see how you can be involved.

Connecting industry with researchers and resources

CTO’s Industry Concierge Service is helping industry conduct trials in Ontario by providing companies with the contacts and tools they need to get their trial off the ground. Over the past year, CTO has connected more than 50 local and global companies to resources, researchers and trial sites in Ontario’s clinical trials ecosystem. CTO is also collaborating with more than 20 local incubators to provide clinical trials resources to Ontario start-ups developing innovative technologies and medical devices. To access the CTO Concierge, please contact andrew.haller@ctontario.ca.

He is also stepping down from his role as Vice President of Research at St. Michael’s Hospital after 18 years of incredible leadership.

“Dr. Slutsky’s vision and passion for Ontario’s research enterprise has been foundational to the establishment and direction of our organization,” said Susan Marlin, President and CEO of CTO. “During his time as Chair, Dr. Slutsky helped CTO successfully embed CTO Stream in Ontario’s clinical trials ecosystem and supported the launch of new initiatives, including QuickSTART and the Industry Concierge Service. On behalf of CTO, we thank him for his leadership and commitment to advancing clinical trials in Ontario.”
